KARACHI: Justice (Retd.) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim and Nazim F. Haji were elected as Chairman and Secretary General of Citizens' Voice (a non-governmental organisation) respectively at a meeting held here on Saturday.

The founding members of the Citizens' Voice (CV) also approved the draft of statute to create a voluntary, non- partisan, non-profit society, to be registered under Registration of Societies Act.

Under the draft statute, 16 founding members will constitute the first Council of the CV. The first elections of the council will be held on rotational basis within 12 months from the date of registration of the CV.

Abdullah J. Memon was elected as Vice Chairman and Dr. Zaeema Alvi Ahmed as Treasurer. The General Secretary would be the chief executive of the society.

According to a press release, the CV will strive to protect and promote individual and collective rights and interests of citizens throughout Pakistan.-APP
