Doctors NPA
to be increased
from next fiscal
LAHORE: The Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) of doctors of the Punjab Health Department would be increased from the next financial year.
Talking to APP on Saturday, the Punjab Minister for Health (Rural) Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that a high-powered committee headed by Secretary Health, Punjab Tarik Farooq is working in this regard and NPA would be increased in the light of the recommendation of the committee from the next fiscal year.
The Health Minister disclosed that notices have been served on all those doctors of his department who are allegedly engaged in private practice throughout the province. He pointed out that under existing rules, doctors can provide consultation services to patients only at their residences and can not practice at any place/clinic/ dispensary/private hospital.
He said that according to Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) rules, three notices would have to be served on practising doctors prior to taking any strict action against them.
Ghulam Sarwar khan said that all the practising doctors having at least three years constant stay at one place of posting would be transferred to another district. He said that doctors having more than three years stay in one district would be transferred first. He said that non-practising doctors would be transferred within the district.-APP
