Deaths during
Haj: next of kin
asked to claim
insurance
ISLAMABAD: The Minister of Religious Affairs has asked the next of kin of Pakistani pilgrims who died in Saudi Arabia during pre-Haj, while performing Haj and even after Haj to file their applications with the Ministry for grant of insurance compensation through the State Life Corporation of Pakistan, official sources told agency.
It may be added that insurance compensation for the pilgrims who died in Saudi Arabia while on Haj for natural death is Rs 1,00,000 and that for the accidental death it is Rs 150,000 only per pilgrims who died with in the country within 10 days prior to their departure for Haj will also be paid Rs 100,000 as compensation money by the insurance corporation concerned.
Over 30 Hajis are reported to have expired so far in Saudi Arabia during pre-Haj season according to reports reaching here from Makkah.
Their next of kin or nominated persons are therefore reminded that they must apply to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for grant of insurance compensation by State Life Insurance Corporation, as each and every pilgrim numbering 105,000 were compulsorily insured by the government and as a result Rs 350 were deducted from their Haj deposits before their departure to Jeddah.-APP
