'Canal water supply
to be ensured
next year'
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Supply of canal water upto Tail would be ensured by next year and presently water tax would not be charged from farmers to whom canal water was not supplied. This was stated by Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari MPA while presiding over Divisional Development Committee meeting here Saturday. He further said that anti corruption committee will meet early to take action on pending anti corruption cases in respect of defective development schemes. He said work on scheme controlling hill torrents for irrigation of barren land and protecting canal system and crops from floods was in progress with the cooperation of Japan to bring green revolution in the area.
The Engineer, Irrigation Department said the meeting that Rs 20m would be spent on repair of bridge over river Indus at Ghazi Ghat. Director General DG Khan Development Authority said work on 35 development schemes costing Rs 40mwas in full swing and construction of six roads in DG Khan city had also been started. The Director Colleges said work on construction and repair of 16 colleges in DG Khan division costing Rs 250m twenty five crore had been taken in hand and necessary formalities for construction of Cadet DG Khan had also been completed. He said that under direction of President of Pakistan geology, metallurgy and chemistry departments were being established at Government Boys degree College.He said colleges would also be opened early at Choti Zerin and Kot Chutta.-APP
