Green Channel

KARACHI: Haji Shafiqur Rehman, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Karachi has hailed the introduction of Green Channel at the Customs for the clearance of goods imported in containers duly sealed by the PSI companies and thereby accepting the CRF issued by PSI companies, in pursuance of the recent decision of CBR.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday the Chamber chief welcomed the CBR's directive according to which all the disputed cases, pending the decision of the Working Committee, would be released provisionally to avoid delays and payment of demurrages.

The Chamber's president hoped that these decisions would be instrumental in eliminating the long-standing importers complaints of delayed clearance of their goods on account of valuation disputes between the Customs officials and the PSI agencies.

The KCCI president further added that these measures would remove unnecessary procedural irritants to a great extent and, therefore, would ensure speedy clearance of imported goods at Karachi seaport and other dry ports/Customs stations etc.
