Five killed
in Karachi
incidents
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Five persons were killed in different incidents in the city on Monday.
Mohammad Siddiq and a labourer were killed when the balcony of a flat which they were repairing caved in and fell over them in Kharadar area.
Mohammad Ayub lost his life due to suffocation when fire broke out in Mukaz Cassette factory in Bhingoria Goth, Azizabad. Two fire tenders rushed to the site and managed to control the fire in two hours. The cause of the fire is said to have been electric short circuit.
Police arrested Asad, a police constable, who shot and injured Chaudhry Asmat Mustafa, a poultry trader, near Madem Apartment on Sharea Faisal on Sunday.
According to details, a police party intercepted Mustafa and demanded money. On his refusal the constable Asad drew his rifle and shot him. Mustafa was rushed to JPMC where he recorded his statement. Asad was arrested on the instructions of high-ups.
Four armed men riding a car intercepted a Suzuki pickup carrying air-conditioners near Phase II, Defence Society, posing themselves as Custom officials.
Later, they loaded 18 air-conditioners on their own Suzuki pickup and drove away, instructing the Suzuki driver to contact Custom House.
Police arrested Mashood Khan from Gadap area on the charge of attempted murder of SDM Gadap.
Police intercepted, Mrs. Najma Qureshi, Saima, Najma alias Kiran Naz, Sadiq and Kazim in Pirabad area. On search, four TT pistols were recovered from them.
Police arrested seven men including, four employees of a private security agency, and recovered six TT pistols, a mauser, Rs 300,000 and a stolen motorcycle.
A boy was drowned in a lake in Manghopir. Asif, 13, was crushed to death under the wheels of a bus on Sharea Faisal.
Three persons were critically injured when they accidentally touched a live wire in Millat Town.
