HYDERABAD: Peoples Labour Bureau, Hyderabad division which met here on Tuesday has strongly opposed the proposals to abolish 25 percent quota of the union leaders from outside and the right of the employer to terminate the services of any employee without any notice.
The meeting which was attended by the representatives of 83 affiliated trade unions demanded that these proposals should be withdrawn as they had created a lot of unrest among the workers.
The meeting demanded that the labour policy announced in 1973 should be re-introduced to provide security of service to workers.
The meeting further demanded that the workers of private transport which had been declared as an industry by the government should be included in the defination of "workman" and provided all facilities allowed under the labour laws.
The meeting also called upon the government to implement labour laws in the sugar mills. It also decided to attend the 17th death anniversary of late Z.A. Bhutto on April 4 in Larkana in large number.
The divisional president of the bureau Ghulam Rasool Memon presided over the meeting.
