KARACHI: Edhi free dispensaries provided medical aid to 2,72,000 people all over the country in March 1996 while 489 people provided with shelters at Edhi Homes.

According to Edhi press release issued on Tuesday, in Karachi alone, 11000 heart, sugar, ENT and other patients got free treatment from 10 dispensaries. Mentally retarded persons were also among those benefited from these dispensaries.

Among 289 persons who got shelter at Edhi Homes, 79 were girls who left their homes due to some dispute and later after having compromise 47 returned to their homes while remaining were still at Edhi Homes.

In Edhi maternity homes at different places in the country, 3448 cases were carried out without charges free life saving drugs were distributed among 917 persons, besides 69 bottles of blood.-PPI
