Govt urged to

avoid policy

of suppression

LAHORE: Patron in Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) (Fazl-ur-Rehman group) Maulana Ajmal Khan has asked the government to give up the politics of victimisation and release all the detained political leaders and workers.

Talking to agency here on Friday he alleged that the present rulers were following a policy to crush its political opponents through state terrorism. The people are fed up with the present rulers and wants their removal at the earliest, he claimed.

He said JUI had decided to call a meeting of all the like-minded religious and political parties to adopt a joint strategy for launching a movement against the rulers in this regard. Final date of the meeting will be decided after Eid-ul-Azha. He said that the incidents of terrorism, dacoity and murder were on alarming increase in the country but rulers were only busy in crushing their political opponents. The government have failed to protect the life and property of its citizens, he alleged.

Commenting on the release of opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Shahbaz Sharif on bail, he alleged that the government was making violations of Human Rights by treating their opponents in jails. He said that the government should also release all the leaders of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan.

To a question about JUI's cooperation with the PML(N) for launching a movement against the rulers, he said his party had always kept its door open for negotiations with them but uptill now no sincere effort was made by the PML(N) leadership to take JUI leadership into confidence for launching a movement against rulers.-PPI
