HYDERABAD: The twin cities of Hyderabad and Latifabad received the first showers of the season on Friday evening bringing the temperature appreciably down after two days of intense heat.

Although it was only a drizzle, the roads turned into slime and slush and cess pools were witnessed on all the main roads as the patch work on the roads gave way to the flowing water.

The much-talked about drainage system for which the corporation is issuing daily press releases proved absolutely inadequate. One shudders to think about the fate of people during the monsoon season which is not far away.
