Cottage industry
to help solve
unemployment
problem: Khuhro
KARACHI: With the establishment of cottage industries in the province particularly in Karachi city, un-employment among youth would be resolved to a great extent.
This was stated by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while presiding over a meeting held to review the progress in establishment of cottage industries, at his office here Thursday.
Khuhro, who is also Chairman of the Committee on Cottage Industries, directed the members of the committee to seek cooperation of industrialists interested in playing a pivotal role in establishing cottage industries in the city and added that the issue of providing incentives to the industrialists for this purpose should also be examined. In this regard, he said that the commercial banks would be asked to help provide funds for this big project.
Secretary Local Government informed the meeting that three zones at Landhi, Orangi and Baldia town have been selected for establishing cottage industries at a cost of Rs. 500 million and with the commissioning of these projects, a large number of youth would be offered job opportunities.
The meeting decided to include Secretary Finance and Secretary Industries Developments as member of the 11-member committee on establishment of the cottage industries. The members of the committee are: Sindh Ministers Khawaja Mohammad Awan, Abdul Khaliq Jumma, Shamim Ahmed, Lal Bux Bhutto, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Planning and Development, Secretary Local Government, Senior Member Sindh Board of Revenue and Administrator KMC.-APP
