MULTAN: The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi has termed the construction of a new dam as imperative and said that we must evolve a national consensus on the issue at all costs.

This was expressed by him while talking to the newsmen at the local airport on Friday and said that every patriot must give a serious thought to this problem as Pakistan being an agriculture country need water and cheaper source of power which could only be achieved through construction of a big dam.

He said the construction of a dam involves a huge financial investments which country could hardly meet from its own resources so we will have to go for opting resources from the international forums. Unanimous approach towards this direction must be adopted, he added.

Answering a question, he said for the purpose a national level committee is being constituted and the name of Shamsul Mulk, former Chairman Wapda has been proposed as its chairman.-APP
