KARACHI: Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan, Takao Kawakami has expressed satisfaction over the improvement of law and order situation in Karachi and hoped that the confidence of the Japanese investors has improved.

"Karachi situation was a matter of great concern for Japanese investors and they were hesitant to invest", Japanese Ambassador said while speaking on "Economic Relations between Japan and Pakistan", at a function organised by International Relations Department of Karachi University, at a local hotel on Thursday.

He said with the improvement of Karachi situation more overseas investment would come in the city.

Kawakami said that Japan would increase its cooperation with Pakistan particularly in the field of human resources development.

He said Japan has already been providing assistance to Pakistan in many fields and during his tenure of 18 months more than 15 agreements have been signed by Japan for trade cooperation.

He said the cumulative Japanese private investment in Pakistan amounted to 267 million dollars, which, although only 0.06 percent of total overseas investment in the World, is increasing gradually.-APP
