ITSC to settle

tax-payers'

complaints in

one month

FAISALABAD: The Government of Pakistan has set up Income Tax Settlement Commission (ITSC) with sole objective to facilitate the tax-payers and settle their genuine complaints within one month.

This was stated by Mohammad Mushtaq, Member ITSC while addressing a special meeting of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Thursday. He said that the Income Tax Department and Trading Community cannot be separated from each other. "The ITSC has been constituted to redress the genuine complaints of tax-payers besides generating maximum funds for national development". He also said that he had already issued directions to pay special attention to the tax-payers' problems and their complaints lodged with the ITSC would be settled within a period of one month.

He said that the government was making efforts to reduce the tax rate to the minimum level to give impetus to trade and business, and thus increasing gross national production. He urged upon the business community to present their recommendations so that a comprehensive policy can be framed to make the ITSC more effective and efficient.

Earlier, Haji Abdur Razaq, President FCCI, presented address of welcome highlighting its catalytic role in promotion of trade and industry. He also demanded a zonal office of the ITSC at Faisalabad so that the problems of the area could be solved locally.

The meeting was also attended by Income Tax Commissioners and leading industrialists and businessmen of the region.
