India's move to
suspend ICRC
activities in
Kashmir flayed
RAWALPINDI: Mohammed Farooq Rehmani Chairman J&K Peoples League has strongly condemned the murderous attack on Dr. Yousuf-ul-Umar a noted social leader, by Indians and has also rebuked the Indian Government for forcing the international committee for Red Cross (ICRC) to leave the Indian held Kahsmir immediately.
He said that now onwards after the suspension of ICRC activities in the occupied region the state of fire and blood will remain without even any token presence of international tracing agency and thus the occupation forces and their secret gangs will further increase human rights abuses.
Mohammed Farooq Rehmani also drew the attention of United Nations Human Rights Commission to the plight of Kashmiri detenues in different Indian jails.
He particularly referred to the high security prison of Udhampore, Jammu where the Superintendent of the jail is involved in abuses of the rights of detenues, and they are being tortured physically and mentally and, their relatives who come from far-flung areas of the valley to meet them, are not allowed interviews.
He appealed to Jose Ayala Laso, U.N.High Commissioner for human rights to intervene and censure the Indian authorities for their maltreatment with the Kashmiri detenues.-APP
