Earth Day
on Monday
LAHORE: International Earth Day will be observed all over the country on April 22 (Monday) with a pledge to conserve the nature by adopting anti-pollution measures.
Deforestation activities, ill-managed solid waste disposal, disposal of untreated industrial and municipal effluents into water channels and excessive smoke emissions from the factories and the automobiles are posing serious threat to environmental conditions in Pakistan like other Third World countries.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now upgraded as a full-fledged provincial department in the Punjab province will organize walk against pollution on Monday (April 22) to celebrate the earth day. The Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Mohammad Arif Nakai will lead the walk scheduled to held from Quaid-e-Azam Library (Jinnah Garden) to the Punjab Assembly Chambers.
Social Advancement Towards Humanity (Sath) in collaboration with the American Centre and The Heinrich Boll Foundation will organize seminar on " Mother Earth- the Bonds of Pollution and sustainable solution" at the American Centre here on Monday. Punjab Environmental Planning Minister, Malik Saleh Mohammad Ganjial will preside over the seminar.-APP
