KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Abdullah Shah has directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan to make Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) an effective organisation so that basic amenities like water supply and sewerage facilities to Karachiites can be provided to the satisfaction of the people.

The Chief Minister gave the directive during a briefing given to him by KWSB authorities at the Chief Minister House here Thursday afternoon.

Referring to the large amount of arrears which the various government, autonomous organisations and private consumers owe to KWSB, the Chief Minister said that necessary measures may be taken to clear these dues either through reconciliation or improved collection system so that huge financial requirements of KWSB may be met and its efficiency can be improved.

During the three-hour long briefing which was also attended by Sindh Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Secretary Finance, Secretary Local Government, Secretary to Chief Minister and other high officials, Chief Minister Abdullah Shah was briefed about the progress of various projects being undertaken by KWSB not only for increasing the quantity of water supply to the city but also for improving its drainage capabilities.-APP
