Canadian experts
report on Indo-Pak
trade prospects

LAHORE: The Canadian economic expert on international trade A.L. Haliday, engaged by the government to analyse the Pak-India trade prospects will submit his report very soon.
He stated this in a meeting with Senior Vice President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Wahid-ud-Din here on Thursday. The Vice President, LCCI, Mohammed Naeem, Kalid Amin, Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Rehmat Ullah Javed, Shahid Iqbal Butt and other members of the LCCI were also present on the occasion.
Haliday said that he had held a number of meeting with the representatives of the public and private sectors at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and other area to seek their point of view on the issue of Pak-India trade.
He agreed that Kashmir issue should be resolved while taking any decision on Pak-India trade. He was of the view that Pakistani entrepreneurs would be able to get various sorts of raw materials on competitive rates by opening trade with India.
Earlier, SH. Wahiduddin, SVP of the LCCI while expressing his views on Pak-India trade said, although Pakistan is bound to give Most Favourite Nation (MFN) status to India under the WTO agreement, but we should adopt a cautious attitude in this respect, keeping in view our historical experience and the existing political situation between the two countries.-APP
