Punjab varsity

LAHORE: The three-members Chinese Journalists Delegation from the largest circulated newspaper of China "Peoples Daily", led by Yang Zhenwu on Wednesday visited the Mass Communication Department of the Punjab University.

The Chairman Department of Mass Communication Professor Dr. Miskeen Ali Hijazi briefed the delegation about the academic activities of the department. He told the delegation that for the first time, diploma in Development Communication and classes for M.Phil degree have been introduced in the same department in addition to post-graduate degree courses.

He informed that ten full time teachers and six part time visiting teachers were imparting knowledge to students in various subjects in Urdu and English medium. He said that subjects of reporting and sub-editing was taught throughout the academic session of two years.

Yang Zhenwu accompanied by his two other colleagues Zhang Guixiang and Liu Qian took keen interest in the syllabus of the department and exchanged views with the teachers on the importance of freedom of press and its healthy impact on the society.

Later, they were shown the different portions of the department including class room, library and photolab.

The Director General, Press Information Department, Ms Farzana Qureshi and other senior teachers of the varsity were also present on the occasion.-APP
