India allows
export of rough
diamonds
NEW DELHI: India's Commerce Ministry has initiated changes in its diamond import and export norms allowing trade in rough diamonds, official sources said here on Wednesday.
It is the first time that India allows Indian companies to import, stock, export and sell rough diamonds locally against a license.
The objective is to capture part of 6-7 billion US dollar global diamond trade, over 50 percent of which is handled by Antwerp, Holland.-APP
