HK gold slightly changed

HONG KONG: Gold closed little changed on Wednesday.

"The market was quiet this morning, then overseas selling pushed gold to day's low of US$390.50/391.00 after Europe opened," a local trading house dealer said. "But physical buying provided support in late trading."

Bullion ended at US$391.10/60 an ounce against New York's US$391.20/50 close and the local opening of US$391.00/50.

"A softer tone is seen in the absence of positive factors," a dealer added. "We expect gold to edge down a bit more, but major support is seen at US$388."

Local gold ended HK$22 lower at HK$3,604 a tael.-Reuter
