back MQM
strike call
KARACHI: The MQM Coordination Committee clarion call to stage a protest strike Thursday to register resentment against the passage of amendment of local bodies bills has received wide spread support from all the prominent opposition political parties of the country.
Those political parties already announced their positive support to the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain included the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz group), Awami National Party. The Jamaat-e-Islami local chief is also in contact with Altaf Hussain to take joint stand on the strike call against disintegrating of the central structure of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and new system of election of the Mayor.
It was for the first time that Afaq Ahmed Khan, arch rival of the MQM (A) chief has also declared his and his faction's - MQM (Haqiqi) - whole hearted support to make the strike a real success.
Afaq termed the bills "a conspiracy of the government against the Mohajirs of Karachi in particular."
Afaq Ahmed has also fully endorsed the MQM call and urged his workers and supporters to ensure that business, shops, commercial and industrial concerns closed down their establishments.
He also called upon the transporters to keep their vehicles off the road.-PPI
