diesel car
launched

LAHORE: Indus Motor Company Limited, assemblers of various Toyota products launched on Wednesday Corolla 2000cc diesel car, carrying in-built qualities of double suspension, heavy frame, fuel efficient, and less noisy.
"Our new products Corolla diesel 2000cc would be available in four colours, black, white, red and grey at a price of Rs 6,99,000", Ali Habib Chairman, Indus Motor Company Limited told reporters.
He said his company after producing and successfully marketing the three Corolla models the XE, GL, and GLI and two Hilux models 4x2 pickups, Indus Motor Company, a joint venture with Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation of Japan has increased its product range to six with the introduction of Diesel Corolla.
The new Diesel Corolla with its economy of fuel, is suitable for inter-city driving and for heavy running. As with other Corolla models the new entrant has a back-up of the country-wide dealership network. It is a product of the stringent Toyota quality and safety, Ali Habib Chairman Indus Motor Company said.
He said his car was less noisy, and powerful with fuel efficient.
Ali Habib said that automobile industry which require capital investments need long term policies for growth and development. He welcomed the establishment of Engineering Development Board and hoped it would recommend measures for the promotion of engineering industry in the country.
Farhad Zulfiqar, Managing Director, Indus Motor Company said his company has annually manufacturing capacity of 20000 units, and at present 40 percent capacity was being utilised. About the deletion programme he said 30 percent deletion has been achieved so far during three year operations.
He said in the category of big passengers car Toyota would have a market share of well over 40 percent.
