Commissioner
visits RCCI
RAWALPINDI: Australia and Pakistan enjoy cordial economic relations and have immense potential for the expansion of bilateral trade and business promotion between the two countries. This was stated by Sheikh Mohammad Shabbir, President RCCI.
Welcoming Don Cairns, Australian Trade Commissioner in Pakistan on Tuesday, he said at present the balance of trade was in Australia's favour. However, he said there existed tremendous scope of bilateral trade and joint investment between the two countries. Pakistan can export several quality items to Australia in addition to Basmati rice, textile and its made-ups, textile yarn, man-made fabric, sports goods surgical instruments, handicrafts, and quality furniture among others.
He said, the purpose of RCCI's proposed delegation to Australia was to identify areas of mutual interest for establishing joint ventures in Pakistan as well as in Australia. The chamber's delegation will open new vistas of economic and business development between Pakistan and Australia, he hoped.
Australian Trade Commissioner, Don Cairns, briefed the intending RCCI delegation to Australia and appreciated the chambers initiative for sending a trade and economic delegation and said, there is lot of scope for joint ventures and mutual beneficials trade between the two countries and added that Australia can contribute positively in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The businessmen from Pakistan, he said, can import Australian wheat, wool, iron ore, animal oil, machinery, agricultural equipment and high quality sea-food, beef and lambs. Australia can also supply post-harvest equipment, food preserving machinery, defence gadgets and quality telecommunication equipment.
Prominent among those who attended the briefing included RCCI Vice-President Sadat Nadem Mirza, Chamber's past Presidents, Mian Pervaiz Aslam and S M Azeem, and executive members, M Naeem Ashraf and Mohtarma Amna Asghar.
A set of chamber's publications was also presented to him on conclusion of the briefing by Sheikh Muhammad Shabbir, President RCCI.-PPI
