MULTAN: More than 22 lakh employees of grade one to 16 and clerical staff of all provincial and federal government departments, autonomous and semi-autonomous agencies on Wednesday observed strike throughout country the call of All Pakistan Clerks Association to press the Government for acceptance of their demands.

A procession was also taken out by them which terminated peacefully. Addressing the protest rallies in Multan, D.G.Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur, Khanewal, Vehari, Pakpattan and Sahiwal, APCA leaders said that they would not postpone or abandon their struggle on the request of present rulers because they had ever betrayed them and now minister of state for finance has categorically stated that government cannot accept their demands for want of funds and resources while it requires more than Rs 5 billion.

They said that elected representatives had increased their own privileges and allowances but they are reluctant to meet the genuine demands of clerks keeping in view the rate of inflation, price hike and devaluation of rupee.
