KARACHI: AgrEvo Pakistan Pvt Ltd., and Bayer AG of Germany have signed a unique "House-in-House" agreement relating to the distribution of Bayer's agrochemicals in Pakistan.

AgrEvo Pakistan is a subsidiary of AgrEvo GmbH of Germany, an international joint venture between the Hoechst group and Schering, in the field of agrochemicals and environmental health products.

Under the agreement, AgrEvo Pakistan will take over responsibility for the formulation, marketing and distribution of Bayer's entire range of crop protection products in Pakistan. A separate Bayer Agrochemicals division has been created within the AgrEvo Pakistan organisation, headed by a Bayer delegate. This division will work in close coordination with Bayer's head office in Germany.

AgrEvo Pakistan will also continue to manufacture and distribute its own products in the country. The combined Bayer - AgrEvo product range will give the company a turnover in excess of Rs. 2 billion per year, making it one of the top two agrochemical companies in the country.

H. J. Timner, Marketing Director of AgrEvo GmbH and K. Kuesgen, Director Marketing International of Bayer's Agrochemical Division are visiting Pakistan on the occasion of the first joint annual conference of the Bayer and AgrEvo teams. Both gentlemen will stay in Pakistan for two days, reviewing the "House-in-House" project and the related investments. Over Rs. 100 million are being invested in warehouses, production, facilities and infrastructure to cater to the expanding business requirements of the two businesses.
