21 arrested

on charge of

power theft

KARACHI: The KESC teams Tuesday conducted raids in various parts of the city and arrested 21 persons on the charge of power theft, says a KESC press release issued here on Wednesday.

On receiving complaints that widespread kunda connection are continuously disturbing KESC power supply system and creating low voltage problem the concerned KESC department stepped up its campaign against power theft.

Accordingly a KESC team consisting of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Ali Akbar Foreman Wajid Ali and inspector Mohd rome conducted two raids and removed 6500 kundas from P&T colony Korangi and confiscated about three thousands feet of kunda wire. Fifteen persons namely Suleman, Rashid Ahmed, Muhammad Ali, Mohd Nadim Qaiser, Nawab Din Khan, Noor Mohd, Muzaffar Ali Arfeen, Kabeer Hussain, Mehmood Ali, Mohd Rafi, Ameen Anwar, Abdul Samad, Zahid Gul and Meherban were arrested.

During another raid conducted with the help of S.I Syed Maqbool Hussain Shah 50 kundas were removed from Metroville-11, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and seven persons were caught red-handed.

Further investigation was being conducted by KESC police.

Meanwhile, The KESC Management has with immediate effect promoted 72 KESC Sub-engineers who have obtained the degree of B.Tech (Hons) to the posts of Asstt. Executive Engineers (AEE).

According to a separate KESC press release 72 KESC employees have been promoted from non-officers cadre to Officers cadre. These newly-promoted engineers will be entitled to AEE's Grade-II in the Corporation.-APP
