EC clarifies Hakim

Said's name in

electoral lists

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has clarified after verification by concerned registeration officers that the name of Hakim Mohammad Said, Chancellor of Hamdard University and Chairman Hamdard Trust exists at serial number 313 of the electoral list of area Shikarpur Colony, KMC-55 of District East.

According to ECP sources two other persons namely Rashid Munir Ahmed and Mohammad Younis are also registered as voters from the same house at serial No. 314 and 315 respectively. The names of three family ladies are registered at serial No. 227, 228 and 229 of the same list in women part.

The ECP further said that it had time and again requested the public to approach the proper registeration staff for checking of their names from March 10 to April 11, 1996 over national media.

The ECP was commenting on a news report published an Urdu daily of Rawalpindi where in it was stated that the name of Hakim Said and his family members were not enlisted in the fresh electrocal rolls.-PPI
