SINGAPORE: Asian dollar deposit rates were little changed in lacklustre trade with most traders sidelined ahead of the 1315 GMT release of the US March industrial production and capacity utilisation data, dealers said on Tuesday.

Industrial production for March is forecast to show a decline of 0.5 percent compared with the 1.2 percent increase reported in February. March capacity is expected to slip to 82.4 percent against February's 82.9 percent. "The market was quiet and featureless in the morning on lack of fresh factors", a local dealer said. "Basically everyone is waiting for more clues to market direction from tonight's industrial production and capacity utilisation figures. But I don't think there will be much impact unless the numbers are way off market expectations", he said.

In short dates, Tuesday/Wednesday, Wednesday/Thursday and week-fixed were unchanged from Monday's common 5-3/8 5-1/4 percent. Among term rates, one-month was unchanged at 5-1/2 5-3/8 percent. Six-months eased 1/16 percentage point to 5-9/16 5-7/16 percent, nine-months eased 1/16 point to 5-11/16 5-9/16 and twelve-months eased 1/16 point to 5-13/16 5-11/16 percent.-Reuter
