India beat Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: India met their denouement with a long awaited Sharjah victory against Pakistan.
In fact Monday's 28 runs triumph over Pakistan in Pepsi Sharjah Cup was India's first in five years.
The One-Day international tournaments hosted by Sharjah have become a regular feature. Rather two tournaments are held there in a calendar year.
India had last beaten Pakistan by 60 runs in the first round match of Champions Trophy One-Day Tournament back in October, 1991 at the desert venue of Sharjah.
Then too, Pakistan had got even by beating India in a second round match and then went on to win the final against the same rivals in a triangular tournament also involving West Indies.
Monday's win was India's only second, starting from Pakistan's victory in the final of Australasia Cup on April 18,1986. That match was crowned by Javed Miandad's historic last ball six as Pakistan had romped home to a single wicket win.-APP
