4 hurt, 40 huts burnt in fire

KARACHI: Two persons were injured in an encounter while fire destroyed over 40 huts in the city on Monday.
Police sources said that a police mobile intercepted some cattle thieves near Awami Markaz. As soon as the police party came out of the mobile, the armed men started firing, in which Yar Mohammad, Sub Inspector of police, and Allah Dinu, a pedestrian were injured. Edhi ambulance shifted Yar Mohammad to Aga Khan Hospital and Dinu to JPMC.
Four persons, including a fireman, were injured and more than 40 huts were gutted in a fire which broke out in Chashma Goth, Quaidabad.
The fire started at 4.30 a.m. from a hut and spread quickly. Several fire tenders reached the site and fought the fire for more than two hours.
Those who were injured included Saeed, 28, Bashiruddin, 30, Irshad Ali, Nasirddin, 25. All of them were shifted to Civil Hospital.
Furniture and office record were destroyed in a fire which broke out in the record room of NJV School on M.A. Jinnah Road.
A furniture shop was gutted in North Karachi. Clothes of an 8 year old girl Zarina caught fire in North Karachi area. She was admitted to Civil Hospital.
A 13 month old child, who was strangulated by the maid servant for crying for milk, is in coma in Aga Khan Hospital. Doctors said that the condition of the child had further deteriorated.
