on education's

role in economy

KARACHI: The Chairman, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Mian Habibullah, has said that education can play an important role in strengthening Pakistan's economy.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of fourth Pakistan International Education Exhibition which began at a local hotel on Sunday.

As many as 39 stalls have been set up by institutions for higher education from abroad as well as Pakistan.

The fair organised by World Learning Bureau will later be held at Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Mian Habibullah said that with the development of fast communication and globalisation of trade, the need for exchange of information and education, has become very important.

He stated with the emergence of World Trade Organisation (WTO) and its impact on free trade throughout the world, it is imperative that Pakistani educational institutions should collaborate with their overseas counterparts for promotion of modern knowledge and technique.

The chief of WLB, Rashid-ul-Haque, presented the address of welcome.

The EPB chairman later inaugurated the exhibition and went round the stalls.-APP
