Kharal assures efforts

to resolve Thar problems

MITHI: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Khalid Kharal has said that all the people living in the country have equal rights to get basic facilities for them.

He was addressing an open katchery here on Saturday. Chairman, Social Action Board district Thar, MNA Moti Ram Mallani, Sindh Minister, Arbab Attaullah and President, PPP Thar district, Faqir Sher Muhammed Blalani were also present on the occasion.

The Minister said that the development and progress of every part of the country is the manifesto of the Pakistan People's Party and the present government is making all out efforts to provide maximum facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the country.

The Minister informed that taking note of the difficulties being faced by the people of Thar, the Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto had directed him to visit Thar on her behalf and make efforts to resolve their problems.

The Minister said that the Sindh Chief Minister has already declared Thar as calamity-hit area, adding that the proper relief is being provided to the people. Rearrange the shortage of wheat supply for Thari people, he informed that the problem has been looked into and the people of this area would soon get sufficient quantity of wheat.

About complaints regarding the illegal transfer of land in Thar area, the Minister assured that he would discuss it with the Revenue Department.

He assured that he will make all out efforts for the early construction of roads so that proper communication facilities could be available in this area.

As for the provision of drinking water facility in Thar desert area, the Minister informed that water pipe-line has already been laid in Chor, while in other areas, the people would soon get drinking water facility, he added. On the demand of the installation of television booster and radio station, the Minister assured the people that these facilities will be provided soon.

He said that after feasibility report on helicopter service, Pakistan International Airlines will be asked to consider this service in Thar.

The Minister said that Thar desert area has been gifted with rich mineral resources and there is the need to properly utilise the coal reservoirs and other resources so that much development could be carried out in this area.

Earlier, the Chairman Social Action Board, Thar district, MNA Moti Ram Mallani and Sindh Minister Arbab Attaullah also addressed the open katchery and highlighted the problem of the people of Thar.

The Minister also heard the problems of the people and issued necessary orders to concerned officers to resolve their grievances. He also announced a gift of television set and a dish antenna for Press Club Mithi.-APP
