KARACHI: The 106th meeting of the high powered committee on export overdue cases-action against the exporters under F.E.R.CT. 1947 Karachi area will be held at the State Bank on May 6.

The meeting will take up cases of defaulters and measures for early recovery of overdues.

Meanwhile, Ahmad. H. Shah, Advocate Supreme Court in a letter written to all the chambers and federation has asked them to suggest to the member Customs, CBR and Collector of Customs exports to allow access to Customs Export Department computer to elicit information regarding export rebate claims on the following grounds.:

Access to confidential and secret records of the Collectorate is not desired.

Only access to information about each export rebate claim of each exporter, category-wise, may kindly be allowed.

The exporters are worried for lack of information for several months about disposal of their export rebate claims specially when no entry into Customs House Export rebate section as well as accounts section is allowed.

For several months neither export rebate cheques are recieved, nor any objection are conveyed.

Names, telephone numbers & addresses of computer manufacturers, their wholesale suppliers and distributors may kindly be announced. General permission to the computer may kindly be granted so that the exporters may elicit information directly from Customs House computers.

This step will remove lot of grievances of the exporters and expedite disposal of their export rebate claims.
