Burdened economy, unrest

leave no justification for

Govt to rule: Shujaat

LAHORE: President Pakistan Muslim League (N) Punjab Senator Ch Shujaat Hussain has said that the ruling party has no moral justification to continue its rule in the country as lawlessness, price-hike, unemployment and corruption have touched the apex, and the masses were undergoing agony of disappointment and dejection.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Saturday, Ch Shujaat said that faulty economic and foreign policies of the government have taken the country at the brink of disaster. He said industry, which is known as a back-bone of any country's economy, has been damaged badly due to oppressing policies of the government.

Talking about privatisation of industries, he said the government industries were bring sold at throw away rates to the favourites of the ruling party. Talking in the same context, he said a bank was sold at the cost of Rs 580 million through Privatisation Commission, though only one building of the unit in Lahore valued more than Rs 580 million.

Ch Shujaat said, foreign policy of the government was so faulty that sincere friends of Pakistan, such as China and Iran, have diminished their ties with "our" country and enhanced relationship with India.

He said that the government, instead of playing any reconciliatory role in Afghanistan, has created estranged ties with it.

Answering a question, Senator Shujaat said that mid-term elections were inevitable. "However certain political parties are favouring the government, just for their personal interest, but actually every party is tired of the government", he said.

Answering another question, the Senator said that there were not differences in opposition benches, and the entire opposition was struggling against the government under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.-PPI
