30 distributors

appointed for

smooth supply

of fertilizers

LAHORE: The Fertilizer Imports Department (FID) has appointed 30 distributors in all the four provinces of the country to ensure smooth supply of fertilizers to the growers.

According to an FID spokesman, earlier there were eight principal distributors - four provincial governments and four fertilizers manufacturing companies - Fauji Fertilizer Corporation (FFC), Daud Hercules Chemical Limited, Engro Chemical Limited and National Fertilizer Marketing Limited (NFML).

"FID has introduced private sector parties in distribution and marketing of imported fertilizers throughout the country under government's policies of privatisation and deregulation", said Syed Farhat Abbas Shah, Deputy Director FID.

FID will organize a ceremony to distribute authorization certificates to the newly-appointed distributors at a local hotel on Monday. Federal Secretary Food and Agriculture, Dr. Zafar Altaf will be the chief guest on this occasion.-APP
