RAWALPINDI: The Chartered Institute of Transport, Pakistan, (CITP) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment will host the two-day 'International Conference on Transport and Environment' here on October 14 and 15.

First of its kind, the conference will highlight the importance of environment measures in national transport sector which include road, railway, sea, air and multimodal.

The conference will discuss transport-related issues including safety regulations, air traffic services, rescue fire services, aviation security services, vehicles testing and automotive servicing, driver education and instruction, driver testing and licensing, meteorological services, public information services and road infrastructure.

London-based International Chartered Institute of Transport has 25 associate organisations in Pakistan, including CITP, and over 800 individual members here.

The two-day conference will be followed by a week-long exhibition, in which all automobile manufacturers and petroleum companies will participate and arrange demonstration of their products put on display.

The other contributing and line agencies include Ministry of Communication, Civil Aviation Authority, Planning Commission, Railways, PIA, Enercon and Trading Corporation of Pakistan.

Dr Mohammad Hanif, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Urban Affairs, Forestry and Wildlife, is the coordinator of the conference and exhibition.-PPI
