Hub power
project ready
for trial
operation
QUETTA: Hubco power project is ready for trial generation within next two weeks.
This was disclosed by Sardar Mohammad Yusuf Khan, Director Corporate Affairs Hub Power Company Limited here on Thursday.
Addressing the concluding session of the 2-day seminar on power projects in private sector exclusively for journalists held here by Hubco, he said the project has taken eight years to complete at a cost about one thousand million dollars.
He said after two months trial, the project would go into full commercial production from July this year. Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate this Pakistan's biggest power project in the private sector generating 1292 mw electricity.
He said power generated by the plan would be supplied to Wapda for distribution among the consumers through its national grid system.
He said this project is of great significance for Balochistan. Eighty five percent of the skilled and non-skilled local employees have been employed in the project.
He said Hubco will be a major source of income for Balochistan it would pay two million dollars per annum as octroi to municipality.
He said Hubco has already paid substantial sum of three million dollars in advance to carry out development such as roads and other infrastructure in the area.
The Hubco Power Project will serve the urgent national need for electricity and will thus help Pakistan including Balochistan stimulate economic and national development, he added.
The project is sprawling power an area of 1500 acres of land. It was a waste land which was acquired by the Hub Power company from the Government of Balochistan.
The two-day seminar was attended by leading journalists from the national and international newspapers and news agencies besides Hubco Chief Executive Woodroffe.-PPI
