paid rebate on

KARACHI: The Collector of Customs (Export) has issued a directive to his staff to pay rebate to the leather and leather garments exporters on a priority basis to help solve their liquidity problem.

The directive was issued on a request made by the exporters for rebate payment before the forthcoming Qurbani season to help them purchase raw materials for their factories.

At a meeting with Fawad Ijaz Khan, Member Managing Committee, Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), the Customs Collector, Mir Fawad on Wednesday assured him that all duty drawback claims filed by the leather exporters by the end of March would be paid before Eid-ul-Azha.

Fawad Ijaz told Business Recorder that Qurbani season was crucial for the leather and leather garment exporters as they brought raw material for their factories worth millions of rupees. As because of substantial purchases, the exporters faced serious liquidity crunch, the Collectorate's action will greatly help the exporters.
