CBR waives off
penal interest
on disputed
consignments
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has waived off the penal interest on the imported consignments lying in large numbers at Customs bonded warehouses since last months.
The waiver has been allowed following request by Haji Shafiqur Rehman, President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) that circumstance prevailing in the city for quite sometime unabled the traders to pay the penal interest.
The CBR has agreed to waive off the penal interest on consignments to be exbonded upto April 30, 1996.
