Austrians in terested
to invest in tourism
hotel joint ventures
ISLAMABAD: Joseph Mayor, Deputy minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs, currently visiting Pakistan, Thursday, appreciated the economic policies of the government, saying, Austrian investors were keen to invest in joint ventures in Pakistan.
The Austrian Deputy minister, heading a from member Trade and Economic delegation , made this statement during a meeting with the Chairman, Board of Investment (BOI) Safdar Abbas Zaidi here.
He informed the Chairman about the desire of Austrian investors to invest in joint ventures in Pakistan, particularly in the field of tourism and hoteleering.
The Austrian delegation showed satisfaction over the overall economic situation in Pakistan and said that liberalized and deregulated policies in Pakistan helped attract foreign investors.
The BOI Chairman apprised the delegation about the economic reforms introduced by the government and investment-friendly climate in Pakistan.
The BOI has prepared more than 70 pre-feasibility reports about the projects in Pakistan . Zaidi told the delegation that Pakistan offers investment and joint venture in a number of fields including power projects, oil and gas, infrastructure, agro food, petro-chemical, housing, hotel and tourism.
The Chairman also informed the Austrian delegation about the liberal economic policies of the government, which he said, attracted investment of over $2 billion, in a short span of two years.
Zaidi further said that Austria could take full advantage of deregulated and liberalized policies and simplified procedure formalities coupled with attractive incentives offered by Pakistan.
Joseph Mayor said the visit would help to explore the possibilities of joint ventures in various fields as Austrian investors were keen to make investment in Pakistan.
The BOI Chairman, saw he hoped that the delegation would convey the message of investment-friendly Pakistan to the Austrian investors.
He further said that Austria, being an important member of European Union, could cooperate with Pakistan to boost industrialisation.
He said that Pakistan would welcome Austrian expertise in tourism sector. BOI has a special feasibility report on this sector focusing over a hundred attractive tourists spots in the country, the Chairman added.-APP
