Amsteram bourse gives shareholder a greater say
AMSTERDAM: The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is looking at ways to give shareholders a greater say in the running of listed companies, bourse chairman Boudewijn van Ittersum said in an interview on Thursday.
He said a committee to investigate corporate governance had been set up, and new ideas to improve shareholder relations were expected to be tabled before the end of the year.
"The committee aims to improve the relationship between the management of the company, the advisory board and the shareholders," Van Ittersum said.
"We expect that before the end of the year there will be a specific programme of measures to improve these relations," he said.
The committee -- comprising three representatives of listed companies, three institutional investor representatives and three experts -- would consider measures such as proxy voting to improve the function of shareholder meetings.-Reuter
