KESC opens

power purchase,

recovery cells

KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation has established two separate cells to deal with the matters regarding purchase of power from power plants under construction in private sector and recovery of its outstanding dues from defaulting consumers, said KESC press release on Wednesday.

The private power cell of KESC, which has been established in Generation Project Department of the Corporation, will be responsible to look into the designs and operational characteristics of all the private sector power plants which are going to be inducted in KESC system from next year.

These plants will be thoroughly checked and supervised by Private Power Cell of the Corporation.

This cell will also be responsible to finalise power purchase agreements with private sector companies to meet the city's power demand in future.

To recover its long outstanding dues from defaulting consumers more effectively, KESC has also established a separate cell in the billing department of the Corporation which will be headed by a chief engineer. This department has been placed under a newly created post of General Manager, Customer Service.
