Abbasi wants 1996
to be a year of
customer-oriented
success for NBP

ISLAMABAD: President National Bank of Pakistan, M.B. Abbasi has exhorted the banking staff to make 1996 a year of customer-oriented success operation to consolidate the achievements so far have been made by the Bank.
He was addressing the first conference of General Managers, Zonal Chiefs and Branch Managers, of the NBP Islamabad Region here on Wednesday.
The NBP President said that recent steps taken by the management have started bearing fruit and a remarkable change is visible in the working of the National Bank. In this regard, he, particularly mentioned the Cultural Change Programme initiated by the management in July, 1995 and said the success of this programme has attracted the attention of other banks as well and the National Bank could rightly take pride of this programme.
Abbasi said cultural change programme has been a unique success as it has changed the entire outlook of banking operation and the bankers in Pakistan.
He said other banks in Pakistan have decided to follow this programme. In this connection an agreement has been signed with MCB under which NBP consultants will train MCB staff.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Regional Chief of the NBP Islamabad Region, Syed Hasan Mahdi said that Islamabad Region has made tremendous success in the outgoing year and the growth in absolute and average deposits was 20 percent reflecting sustained growth. The foreign currency deposits have appreciatably increased by more than 55 percent while the profit target increased by 51 percent.
Syed Hasan Mahdi also briefly touched the welfare measures taken by the NBP management for the betterment of the staff, and mentioned the pragmatic guidelines given by the NBP management.
