My govt. pursuing

stacro-economic

policy, says PM

LARKANA: The Prime Minister Benazir declared here on Saturday that her government was pursing a macro economic policy in consonance with independent foreign policy, which was aimed at attaining respectable place for Pakistan in the comity of nations.

She said that the wrong policies pursued by the previous regime in pre 1993 period had isolated the country, and there was even a threat of it being declared a terrorist state.

The Premier was giving broadline of her government's internal and external policies during last two and half years, at a dinner hosted by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Nisar Ahmed Khuhro for the office bearers of press clubs from different parts of the province at a local hotel.

The Premier Minister cited her recent tours of Behrain, and Syria where, she added, a number of productive trade and cultural agreements had been finalised, which would be implemented in coming years. Trade and other delegations of these countries would also mutually exchange visits for promoting exports and trade, she added.

She said Pakistan was recognised by the IMF as one of the top ten emerging states, which was a proof of country's transparent economic policy.

She said our economic considerations were interlinked with our foreign policy, and "whenever I undertake foreign tours, I try to achieve this very objective."

The Premier said that country had achieved socio-political stability during her government's two and half years and this fact had been acknowledged by international circles.

She said foreign investors were pouring in with bulk investment, and this would not only be in our benefit, but also was in the interest of the contributors.-APP
