_GCCI calls for

continuing FST

LAHORE: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called upon the government to continue the policy of Fixed Sales Tax (FST) because it has earned greater revenues for the government.

At a meeting of the GCCI, speakers were of the view that discontinuation of the time-honoured system would entail waste of time and may lead to incidence of financial corruption.

The meeting was attended by representatives of associations dealing with defferent sectors of business including silk and rayon, aluminim utensils, brass fittings, printing and dyeing, gas appliance, plastic industries, sanitaryware, electric fans, pottery manufacturing and washing machines and room coolers.
