Leghari invites
Qatar's private,
public investment
ISLAMABAD: President Farooq Leghari has said that Qatar and Pakistan could further enhance their trade and economic cooperation and have joint production in specific areas.
He was talking to Saeed Khalifa Murbarak al-Muhannadi, Ambassador of Qatar in Pakistan who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Wednesday.
The President said that Pakistan has already agreed to have gas from Qatar on mutually beneficial terms. He hoped that the two countries would be able to finalize the agreement during the forthcoming visit of the Amir of Qatar to Pakistan in near future. He added that Pakistan was keen to further improve its relationship with Qatar at the political level also as a large number of Pakistanis were working there and were making meaningful contribution to the economies of both the countries.
The President observed that their could even be a mega project for the gas pipeline between Qatar, Pakistan, India and Iran to benefit the whole region. He invited the Qatari private and public sectors to explore the possibilities of investment in Pakistan, specially in natural gas and energy sectors.
Saeed Khalifa Mubarak al-Muhannadi reciprocated his feelings and also delivered a special message of the Amir of Qatar to the President.-APP
