LAHORE: Iran has imposed a hefty departure tax on all passengers using the Tehran airport.

The tax amounts to US $ 23 and no concession is granted to transit passengers who normally are not charged such taxes if the transit time does not exceed 24 hours.

Sources said that no relief is given even to diplomats and infants who are universally exempted from such taxes.-PPI
