prices slide

BOMBAY: Sugar prices moved down as physical demand was lower than expected, dealers said.

"Prices are likely to move in a narrow range although the festival season is approaching," said a dealer.

Ready S-30 shed 5-10 rupees per quintal to 1,230/1,260 and M-30 suffered a similar loss to 1,250/1,350 rupees per quintal. Sugar mill delivery was steady at 1,170/1,180 rupees a quintal and trading volumes were poor.

Dealers said sugar prices have been subdued for the last few days because supplies in the open market were higher than expected.-Reuter
