LONDON: A BBC Radio journalist, John Schofield, was killed Wednesday in a Croatian army attack while reporting on the conflict in Croatia, the BBC announced.
Schofield, 29, was targeted by the Croatian army along with three colleagues from BBC World Services Television and died immediately, the BBC said.
Two of his colleagues, Adam Kelliher and Omar Osawi, were wounded. The fourth member of the group, Jonathan Birchall, was unhurt.
Deputy BBC director-general Bob Phillis described Schofield as "a fine and courageous reporter who was held in very high regard."
Seventy-six reporters have died since the outbreak of fighting in the former Yugoslavia in mid-1991, according to a count made here.-APP
